New and Used Class 7 Class 8 Heavy Duty Bucket Truck - Boom Truck For Sale

A bucket truck – boom truck is a truck with a boom arm and with a bucket on the end for hoisting workers to high places. Either of these names could be used for this piece of machinery. You may also hear it referred to as a cherry picker, due to the fact that such trucks can sometimes be used by farm workers to pick fruit from trees. Rescue workers such as firefighters also use bucket trucks to reach the roofs of buildings or high windows.

This truck’s extendable bucket can also be used by utility workers to do repairs on tall power or telephone lines. In addition, the boom winch typically mounted in the bed of the truck can be used for transporting heavy items to high places or from jobsite to jobsite. Sometimes the boom will be stored on a separate trailer that is pulled behind the truck. Larger booms will need an outrigger that extends to the sides in order to help stabilize the boom and prevent toppling.

A boom truck – bucket truck can come in various sizes, ranging all the way up to a Class 8. This is equivalent to a tractor trailer rig. Instead of a bucket for workers to stand in, some trucks come equipped with a flat platform that can be raised and lowered. In either case, a hydraulic lifting system housed in the truck’s bed powers the moving. Control panels for moving the boom can have a few different locations. Sometimes they’re positioned inside the cab of the truck. They could also be found on the side of the truck or inside the boom.
